The Town of Alabama Fire Department proudly provides first responder emergency services to the residents, businesses and visitors of the Town of Alabama and the Tonawanda Reservation. Located in northwestern Genesee County New York the AFD is a 100% volunteer not for profit agency. We currently are recruiting for all positions in the department including varied levels and areas of emergency, non-emergency response and administration. Please see our Recruitment page for information on the many opportunities currently available with the department.
The AFD is actively participating in the Genesee County "get FIRED up!" initiative; a project aimed at recruiting new members to emergency services and retaining those already involved. This project is part of a national effort to address the declining membership in volunteer fire/ems departments throughout the country. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is supporting these efforts through their Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program. Genesee County is a current recipient of a SAFER Grant which will assist local departments with recruitment and retention. Please click on the "get FIRED up!" logo for additional information.
